This was our first review to hit the internet. It is done by a gentleman from the United States who has lived in Davao City for many years. Mr Branham continues to visit us on a daily basis. Davao Gastronomic Adventures Blue Carabao Eatery THURSDAY, JUNE 26, 2008 Category: Filipino Foods. The Blue Carabao is located on P. Sobrecarey Street. One block from Victoria Plaza Mall and behind McDonald's. This eatery is owned and operated by a Canadian and his Filipino wife. They have been in business for about two years. I have drove by the Blue Carabao many times and finally decided to give it a try. The wife and I went there on June 24, 2008 and back again on the 26th, two days later. I find the Blue Carabao very impressive on the outside and also on the inside. It is very clean and has a good staff. It is a Self-Service open-air restaurant. You walk down a serving line and tell them what you want and the bill is brought to your table later. They have a good system and it works great. Let's talk about the food. I can not say enough how much I like their Carabao Soup (Hinalang). I have 3 places I go for soup in Davao and the Blue Carabao is now at the top of my list. I like my soup hot and spicy and the Blue Carabao puts me over the top. The meat is very lean and melts in your mouth. From the very first bite I have steam coming from my ears and it gets better with every mouth full. What can I say, I love their soup. The wife likes their Carabao Soup (Pochero) that is not so hot and spicy. I have tried it and it is good. They also have other great looking food. One day I will try their fried chicken. For now it is soup and more soup. Rating (Scale 1 to 10 with 10 being the highest): Food: 8 (soup: 10) Service: 7 (Self-service, but staff very helpful) Ambiance: 7 Recommendation: Very Good. I got to meet the owners on my last visit and very nice people. They care about serving good food and giving great services. The price of their food is very reasonable. The first time we ate there P118 and the second time P121. They also have a good location. I can have a great meal and then walk to McDonald's for coffee or go to Victoria Plaza. We are going back tomorrow (June 28, 2008) and take the sister-in-law. I am starting to get hot just thinking about their soup. You have to give them a try, you will not be sorry. davaogastronomicadventures.blogspot.com/.../blue-carabao-eatery.html This next review was done by rapsa { http://rapsa.i.ph/blogs/rapsa/2009/03/25/hinalang-by-blue-carabao/ } who did a a review on three of our meals. We where and still honored by his kind words as they make all the difficult times worth the effort. We include all three reviews . KALDERETANG KAMBING BY BLUE CARABAO March 10, 2009 This is one dish that is always available anywhere in the Philippines.Kalderetang Kambing is also common during occasions specially in the rural areas wherein preparing goat for an occasion is something special. InDavao City, Kalderetang Kambing is available all even if there is no occasion. This goes the same as to other areas. There is this restaurant inDavao that serves this dish similar to the taste that I have been accustomed to. The taste is nostalgic for me. It reminded me of our restaurant way back then. The tastiness of the tomato sauce and the tenderness of the goat meat are excellent. This is a must have when you go there. This is best with their hinalang ( which I will make another entry for this). Their Kalderetang Kambing is very delicious and is very affordable. Go there and experience their dishes. You will be amazed with the taste and with the price. This is something you will definitely come back. Thanks to Francis and Sherry Scott for this wonderful Kalderetang Kambing. POCHERO OF BLUE CARABAO March 21, 2009 In the Visayas, the equivalent of Bulalo is Pochero. This is always available at almost every native or grill restaurant in the Visayas and Mindanao. It is Bulalo but with corn, straw beans and Chinese cabbage. During my travel at Davao, I came across this pochero that is made of Carabao meat instead of the usual beef. For me, it is better because this pochero is much flavorsome. TheBlue Carabao eatery has made their pochero so tender and so tasty that every sip of the soup is a satisfying experience. In addition to this, the service of Blue Carabao is excellent. They serve fast and the waiter and waitresses are very accommodating. Aside from a delicious food, this is one thing that I am very particular ever time I search for rapsa food and I am happy to say that Blue Carabao has passed by standards when it comes to food and service. They serve fast and their waiters and waitresses are very accommodating. They make you feel that you are welcome to their restaurant and they are happy to serve you. Excellent customer service!!! Go there and experience their Pochero. It is a sure hit the way it captured my attention and taste palette. With the experience I had with them, will definitely go back to Blue Carabao every time I will visit Davao. HINALANG BY BLUE CARABAO March 25, 2009 Halang in Visayas is Anghang ( Spicy). This is a soup dish that is super hot!!! Guarantee to make you sweat. This is how spicy this soup dish is. There’s plenty of ginger, siling labuyo, onions, carabao meat and other spices. The Hinalang of Blue Carabao is a sure fire to your mouth but is very delicious. As a first timer to this dish, what I can say is “sobrang sarap, at sobrang anghang”. The more you sip, the more you will be enticed to have it again and again. As one of their signature dish, this soup is always available everyday. If you are to observe the people who dine, this is one of the bestseller aside from their Pochero The restaurant is full in the morning during breakfast, full during lunchtime and full at dinner time. I suggest that you go there for brunch, late lunch or early dinner. If you are into spicy food, then this soup is for you. Hinalang is a real power food that will perk you up anytime of the day. Hang Bai, Pero Lami Kaayo!!! |
